Autodiagnosis
WCAG audit and usability tests with disabled users
The Autodiagnosis tool is tailored to provide a thorough financial assessment for businesses. Following the survey, an evaluation is conducted to pinpoint areas in need of adjustments. Subsequently, businesses are invited to participate in a specialized program to address identified issues. The objective was to improve the design making the tool user-friendly for diverse audiences, including individuals with disabilities.
The whole process took approximately half a year. We began with a comprehensive WCAG audit at A and AA levels of compliance for the Autodiagnosis tool. After the initial audit, all identified accessibility issues were diligently addressed in the implementation phase. A follow-up audit was then conducted to ensure the implemented changes met the desired accessibility standards. The development team was given additional guidelines so that another batch of changes could be implemented to resolve any remaining or newly identified issues. As the saying goes, three times charm, so a third audit was made. Following this, another implementation phase was undertaken to address the findings. To guarantee practical accessibility and user experience, usability tests were conducted, specifically involving participants with disabilities. Thus, we could verify, whether the tool was available to all.

What have we achieved?
After approximately six months of dedicated efforts, we successfully elevated the accessibility adherence level of the Autodiagnosis tool according to WCAG criteria from 51% to 81%. This substantial improvement indicates the resolution of the majority of accessibility issues, making the tool more user-friendly and intuitive. As a result, the Autodiagnosis tool is now better equipped to serve a broader and more diverse audience, including, but not limited to, people with disabilities
Our efforts were rewarded with positive opinions and testimonials. Disabled users suggested the tool is more accessible and more usable across the board. The experience improved for all test groups alike.
