Unbounded Way Initiative

The Unbounded Way project was initiated by our team in 2023. Its mission is to create a bridge between the gastronomic industry and individuals with disabilities by comprehensively supporting restaurants, cafes, or bars in improving the accessibility of their establishments.

One of the initiatives is the introduction of the Digital Menu, which allows owners or employees of establishments to freely edit the Menu content while remaining fully accessible to the Blind and Visually Impaired through its digital form and full compatibility with screen readers.

The next initiative is a Portal Supporting the Service of People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Together with a Sign Language Interpreter, we created a universal system of commands and questions that guide the staff of establishments and Deaf/Hard of Hearing customers through the service process, without fear of communication problems. We direct this solution to service members who do not know Polish Sign Language, by developing a simple instruction system in each instructional video.

Unbounded Way Recommendation System

We created the Unbounded Way Recommendation System to facilitate the discovery of new, Disability-Friendly establishments. We evaluate places in terms of architectural and digital accessibility, considering the widest possible spectrum of accessibility. Places that meet these requirements are marked with our Unbounded Way Recommendation and we show adapted establishments to our community. If a place is not fully accessible, we provide our recommendations, tailored to the individual capabilities of the establishment.

 

Educational Outreach

We also support gastronomy through educational activities, mainly content on social media, but also live talks that raise awareness among owners and employees of gastronomic establishments about accessibility and the needs of people with various disabilities. We show how establishments can inform their customers about accessibility offered at their locations. We educate about why the presence of people with disabilities in their space is important not only for this community but also for the establishments themselves, opening them up to a whole new range of customers.
