Digital accessibility

What is accessibility?

Website accessibility refers to adapting web content for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they can access it regardless of challenges like impaired vision, blindness, cognitive difficulties, hearing impairments, deafness, or limited motor skills. Yet, its scope extends beyond these aspects. Many everyday actions, such as using mobile devices with gloves or enhancing screen contrast on bright days, are practical applications of accessibility features. Even voice typing in chatboxes falls under this category.

Accessibility guidelines

To effectively implement accessibility, following established standards like the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) by the W3C foundation is recommended. These guidelines are globally recognized and employed by designers and developers for creating new digital products or updating existing ones.

Why does accessibility matter?

Effective accessibility not only expands a website's reach to diverse audiences but also enhances brand recognition. By integrating accessible solutions, businesses eliminate communication barriers, facilitating better access to media, information, and services. In some regions, adhering to the WCAG 2.1 standard is a legal requirement.

Each of us will need different levels of access, now or later.
